HotMail Popup 1

Hey everyone - My XP has a popup window that has all the hotmail addresses listed so that you can just click on one and enter the password. Problem is, I can't find a way to delete old addresses and it is REALLY getting crowded in there. Anyone know the trick to deleting addresses here?

While I'm here, can someone direct me to a website that I can print directions on how to reinstall XP? Should be very detailed and very clear. Don't know ANYTHING abut bios and have been running without reinstall about two years now. My first computer so you know it's full of junk. Thanks all

My recommendation for a clean install:

. First, go to the manufacturer site of your computer and make certain you are current on all BIOS and driver updates.

. Use this wonderful freeware utility to create a backup set of all current drivers, including .inf and .cat files for your workstation:

Copy this backup set to floppy or CD. (You can collapse all the subfolders to make the use of this backup store easier)

. Now your bible, print it out:

i. You want to do both a backup, and use the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard. Both are suggested (with links) in the "Bible" in this section: Important Considerations Before You Partition and Format Your Hard Disk

ii. Beginning with Step #9 in the "Bible", I would select the existing installation of XP and do the non-quick format of the existing partition. See this section: How to Partition and Format Your Hard Disk by Using Windows XP Setup

iii. This starts the process for the clean install of XP Pro.

Your new XP installation is complete. Now:

. Restore your backup driver set to a folder on your hard disk drive.

. Using Device Manager, point to your driver backup store for driver replacements of any non-working or poorly working devices. (I walked the whole chain of devices doing upgrades from my backup store).

You will then want to go to the MS Update site. To make the process less onerous:

Enable the native XP Firewall

You can use something else later, but the last thing you want is to get infect by blaster or something else at this point.

1. Start with Service Pack 1a. Reboot. Do not attempt any other Hotfix but the Service Pack as your first step.

2. Use the direct downloads of two MS XP "Rollups" to reduce the time spent at Windows Update:

. Hotfix rollup:

3. Now head back to Windows Update and finish the job. I prefer to do no more than three Hotfixes at a time without a reboot, but that is just me.

Your original question (if it still applies) might be solvable by typing "control userpasswords2" in the Start Run box. In the resulting window click on Advanced, then Manage Passwords. You should then be able to Remove the old Hotmail information.
