If I've got a Hotel with an Option 11 and MerMail that has been previously controlled by a PMS system - but now the PMS system has been removed, how can I reset all the mailboxes to "Checked In" ~and~ Set all the phones to Unrestricted , and I need to do it real fast.

I don't know hospitality

Concerning Extensions:

Enable BGD on yur TTY (USR TTY in ADAN TTY)

Logout

.SE ST XXXX YYYY CL
.SE ST XXXX YYYY SA
.SE ST XXXX YYYY CH IN

Where XXXX and YYYY are the limit of your extensions range.

I Meridan Mail, use the GAC port to chek them IN.

The quickest thing now is to run a script to make all extns CLS CCSD and NCOS unrestricted or CLS UNR etc.

As for the mailbox's It might be drastic, but the is a command in Tools to remove the mailbox.s and then you can rebuild them again in a start and end mailbox number.

All the best

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

OK, the PBX part I think I can get. But to Lynx77, what is the "GAC port" and and what procedure am I looking for to do "Check In"

Hi,

You can use dot commands. What you need to do is connect to PABX but don't login. You will see "." on the screen. At this prompt you can type commands for Hotel/Motel interface.
Suppose you have room numbers 2xx, you can have to do a few things;
If room is checked out, then you need to pass room for cleaning then check in.
Type at dot prompt;
se st 2xx pa, ie set status 2xx pass.
se st 2xx ch in, ie set status 2xx check in
this will check in room and set TLD=7.

I think you can use wildcards for extension DN, ie * or ? or x; that is 22* or 22? or 22x will do all in that range. Not sure which one, just try and see what happens.

This is all explained in Nortel document Hospitality Features Fundamentals NN43001-553_01.01.

Regards

Cool. Do those commands affect the mailboxes too? Or just the CLS of the station?

ch in commands if used from a PMS port affect CLS and mailboxes.
ch in commands if used in a BGD port affect only CLS.

GAC port = Guset Administration Control (meridan mail port -should be configured in hospitality systems). In that menu (unformtunately i do not have one right now to snap shot), you can check in mailboxes.

I am not sure if there is a bulk command to check in all mailbox.

Excellent. We do have access to the TTY port that was connected to the PMS, so I suspect we'll just connect a terminal or modem to that and start typing

Possibly a bit late to post this but:

from a BGD terminal, if you do SE ST AL CI (ent) that should at least check n all your guest rooms into the PABX.

The mail is a bit harder.

If you have a PMS emulator, then you can access the PMS port, and start checking rooms in individually ( i do not believe that there is a CH IN AL feature here).

If you do not have an emulator and need it, send a PM and I can start looking to get something to you.

Good Luck

Ya, I got to get all MerMail boxes "checked in" I guess is the term. Every box needs to be working and answer calls.

So, you're saying I can't just type in the commands thru a dumb terminal on the cable that went to the PMS box, and have that tell MerMail boxes they are open and working and occupied and checked in?

I dunno how to reach you, but I am certainly publicly visible.

Trying to find if there is a PM facility here, as I have not had the need before. Am thinking not.

From what I remember, and its been 2 years or so, the PMS port has its own protocol, where as the BGD terminal is just plain old dumb RS232 (read that as using your terminal).

I have a couple of PMS emulators, and basically they will let you use the PMS port.... and not to hard to figure out how they work. I do not believe that they are Nortel supported as such.

I suppose its a bit late now, but if the original FOS is still there, that could have been used to do all the hack work b4 its demise.
