Hi All,

Does anyone know if you can hot desk between switches? For example, if I have two Small Office switches that are networked together through a VPN, can I have a user at one site go to the other and log into a phone? Seems like it should be possible. Has anyone tried this?

Thanks,

John

It would be realy nice but unfortunatly the answer is no. (At least not yet, this is a feature that may get implemented in later versions of firmware )

I know its physically possible, but indeed not "available" yet.

I had two systems running 3.0.35 (way back when) and when I first turned them up, when they found each other via Small Community Networking, they would swap databases. Yes, USERS would swap. Very strange.

So obviously the capability is there, its just a matter of utilizing it.

Thanks Kris. That's pretty cool. I hope Avaya does officially enable that in their next release.

Having spokern to Avaya on a conferance call with teh product managers Avaya state that V 4 or V3.3 whatever they are cgoing to call it next aprils release will have this option in it....

however this is Avaya timescale and not GMT time!!!

I have seen the problem with the databases switching when the SCN comes up. Happened when I used site A config as a template to write Site B. Turns out that the .cfg for site B was corrupted and I had to rebuild. Works Great today.

A simple work around is to use an IP phone at each site logged onto the remote gateway.

Not perfect but it is ideal if you have uses visiting from site A to Site B they just use the IP phone when they log on
