Hi guys....

I'm just getting into the whole asp thing and am creating a simple shopping cart system for a small business...

I want to host this site (it will link to a bank site for actual payments) so that it has all the functionality of a shopping cart and probably a password protected area for wholesale customers seperate to the retail front of the site... when organisind the hosting what should i be looking for?

my site will be asp based and i'll be using access to create the database...

I have worked out enough to know that I need a windows based server and that it has to be asp enabled but what else would i need... I don't expect mega amounts or traffic and i at this stage only have around 50 to 70 products to offer on the site - could someone give me a quick rundown or direct me to a site where I can read up on this side of things - this is all a bit new to me

thx

Just starting, low traffic, not a lot of products, need everything fast and secure? -

I higly recommend starting with PayPal shopping cart:

secure,
very easy to set up and
no monthly fee (2.2% -2.8% commisions from sales only)

Not a lot of flexibility for shipping options but with a bit of ASP programming you can do almost anything you want (and I did for myself & all of my clients).

When the sales volume is high - move to your own cart.

With PayPal almost any ASP hosting will do the job - just make sure that you DB is placed into the secure, private folder outside of the root of your website.

this one looks OK (Standard & Premium plans)

thanx for that - I'll look into it all
