Hello,

I'm using godaddy for domain registration and name servers. The web and mail server is hosted else where. Everything seems to work and mail seems to go through but I get this error when using email tester on dns stuff.com

Getting MX record for promessdev.com... No response received.

This should be treated as an ERROR (per RFC974), and the E-mail delivery should be retried later.

Using the Total DNS tool, I've setup something like this:

A
@ 123.123.123.123 3600
mail 123.123.123.123 3600

CNAMES
www @ 3600
ftp @ 3600

MX
0 @ mail.mydomain.com 3600

Why am I getting this error? Thanks, Kurt

It's only easy when you know how.

This is what I get with NSLOOKUP:

> set type=MX
> promessdev.com
Server: dns2.dslextreme.com
Address: 66.51.206.100

Non-authoritative answer:
promessdev.com MX preference = 0, mail exchanger = mail.promessdev.com

promessdev.com nameserver = PARK14.SECURESERVER.NET
promessdev.com nameserver = PARK13.SECURESERVER.NET
mail.promessdev.com internet address = 69.218.74.117
PARK13.SECURESERVER.NET internet address = 64.202.165.117
PARK14.SECURESERVER.NET internet address = 64.202.167.156

Seems like it's working properly now. Maybe you just hadn't waited long enough for GoDaddy's DNS update process? Not sure.
