I don't know how many people have run into this but I had a case open with veritas with a client that would not backup getting 14 errors.
The Application Event Viewer:
Faulting application bpbkar32.exe, version 5.1.0.140, faulting module
nbbedsshadow.dll, version 5.1.0.135, fault address 0x00022608
the Resolution:
This is a known issue with VERITAS NetBackup (tm) where bpbkar32 would crash if the server's hostname is more than 15 characters long.
The solution is to rename the client to 15 or less characters or upgrade to 5.1 MP3A
