Yesterday I had posted something about someone invading internet privacy. Here is more on to that.

There is someone watching my friends converstions when she is in MSN messanger. She has ZoneAlarm installed in her PC, OS is using ME. She had this installed before using messanger.
1) He told her he is using something called
Portal Channel?, can anyone explain what this is?
2) He also tole her that there is no way to trace back to him.
3) He also mentioned that he has been sitting in others converstaion when they us MSN messanger, w/o thier knowledge and sometimes prevent sendee from receiving chats.

One more point, my frined has changed her password several times, and the person is still able to access her MSN messanger. He did tell her the firewall is working cause he was not able to get to anything now on her pc.

What was the user name of the guy butting in? There might be a way to trace him. We will have to check. No one is trace proof. is her PC on a cable modem or DSL? If so contact the ISP and inform them that some one has hacked into her machine and is whatching her chats. they may or may not do something. This guy is breaking the law and should be cought. It sounds as if he thinks he is very smart. And he seems to think that this lady does not know much about computers and can be intimidated. As I asked earlier. What is HIS user name when he contacts her. He may be using a securilty hole in MSM. There might be a patch that fixes this hole. Update the MSM service to the latest level. If the problem continues she can try another user name. If he has hacked into her PC she may have to do more. Zone alrm comes up with nothing? James Collins

You indicated yesterday she is using a dial-up connection, yes?

A quick search on Google for Portal Channel turned up nothing helpful

Also, this thread apparently got canned yesteray because it is off-topic for this forum (?).

If a change of password has not helped at all then it is possible that some sort of backdoor is installed or he is exploiting a hole in MSN security. Either way, this is now a matter for the authorities (police), her ISP and MSN. Give MSN the name(s) he is using when he chats to her and the times when this is happening. Also, try closing all internet access in Zone Alarm to everything but MSN and see what she gets. If the problem persists then it is almost certainly an MSN security issue.

Dail up modem, I also check for anything called Portal Channel, turn up nothing.
He has not contacter her for days now, but can seat and watch who she is chatting with w/o her knowledge, as she's been told by him. She knows this is true to do talking to someone else, and he made comment to her about the conversation.
So this thread should be in software?

I did advice her to call her ISP and local police. She said she will call MSN 1-800=#, due to what may happen if he is watching her if she send e-mail.
