Greetings,

Can anyone provide insight on adding a HiPath 3800 v.7 to a LAN for remote admin using the Mananger E?

I understand that the system has a built in firewall. If this remains active, will it allow all traffic by default?

Can anyone share security concerns, if any?

Thank you!

Hi,

Most of the 3x00 systems I did from V6 onwards were on the local LAN for maintenance purposes. If you want to access remotely from off site then you could use VPN or rdp access to get to the 3800. This puts the security on the IT providers. If you want to use a port forward through the router then use an obscure port on the wan side through to 7000 on the LAN side.

Thank you for the input C64!! I gather natural LAN traffic, snooping, CDP, etc, presents no concern so the activation of the HiPath 3800 firewall may not be needed...
