HILITE REXX not working ?

Ok lets see if I understand your situation...
Your in an ISPF session, Editing a dataset, REXX code in as a PDS member and/or REXX code in a normal dataset
On the EDIT primary command line you type HILITE REXX and
you receive the above message...
Any preceding ISPxxxx message identifier with that?.
I assume 3270 emulator being used? - Setup correct model with EXTENDED highlighting on?
Your installation could have set HILITE unavailable - check with your resident z/OS systems group and find out if that is indeed the case in the ISPF configuration file.

It turns out it will work... but only using a screen size of 32x80. If I use 'any model', 24x80, 43x80, or 27x132 it doesn't.
The only catch is, if I leave my session at 32x80, I can't sign on to CICS. I get the following:
U02RAA47 UNABLE TO ESTABLISH SESSION - IPS SRC FAILED WITH SENSE 08210000

Well, thats not true..
I run a 24x80 Mod 2 on my Extra 3270 TN Session using Extended Attributes...
My ISPF Terminal settings are set to Terminal Type 3 which is a 3278.
So, since it is working on a 32x80 - that tells me that the ISPF config file is fine, it is most likely a display/terminal mismatch -
Check your 3270 Emulator display settings - set it to 24x80 and use Extended Attributes.
Save those settings and logon back to TSO/ISPF - check your terminal settings there - - set to Terminal Type 3
Set that all up and try again.

I tried that.... I set it to 24x80, 'support extended attributes' is checked... I logged back on, set to Terminal Type '3'... and I get:
'Invalid Terminal', with the following F1 message:

I will try to look into this as time permits, but suffice to say either you have a terminal configuration 'problem' and/or the ISPF configuration file (again) may be involved.
If it worked (as you stated above) at a different setting, then I tend to rule out the ISPF configuration file.
Side note: - when you had it working you mentioned CICS did not 'work' - well more than LIKELY the TARGET CICS system does not have the 'correct' terminal definition installed into it (even via AUTOINSTALL) so therefor it is not supporting that 'terminal' connecting to it.
Are u using TELNET (TN3270) session definition on the attachmate?
I still strongly advise to get a hold of your systems people - ask them if the ISPF config file is setup to support the HILITE (Extended color highlighting).

Need to get the ISR message so please do the following
Edit your REXX code in an ISPF/PDF edit session.
From command line type: HILITE REXX
Then reposition your cursor to the begining of the command line and type: MSGID
A popup box will/should be displayed - please provide me
with that message ID - should be an ISRExxx

Ok looked at it - ran fine without a problem.
So, I am sorry to say that you will need to contact your systems support people.
I do not know your network setup, etc. but would concentrate
on the ISPF configuration file along with possibly the TCPIP setup for TN3270 at your target system/lpar etc..
Also - possibly could be a known bug with z/OS V7 and the
ISPF that comes with it? - IM still on z/OS 1.4 ISPF
Now, unless your not telling me something that you maybe doing differently I have assumed you are using a standard
3.4 Dataset list, Edit the PDS member, or are u using a
'custom' editor and/or editor macro.
If you are just using plain IBM supplied stuff, you will
need to get in touch with your systems people about this

I use Rumba but I have the session configured as a model 2 (24x80) and extended attributes and HILITE works fin. We have z/OS 1.7
When you set the extended attributes you did do a reconnect didn't you? Logging off and on to TSO will not do it. You ned to reconnect your Attachmate Extra! Personal Client session. These attributes are negotiated when the session binds.
Outside of that I don't see what could be wrong with TSO it sounds like the emmulator to me.

Well, I finally decided to copy a co-worker's SESSION.EDP file to my machine and it works now. I tried comparing the 2 files, but there's so many differences I'm not sure which one was causing the problem.
If you're interested, I'll send you the compares, but I'm sure you'll be satisfied enough to know that it's working for me now.

Hello folks --
I went to my bank and my clerk had a Windows 2000 workstation. She brought or "connected" this terminal emulator from her Windows 2000 which I leaned over and I noticed at the top it said: xioc3270tn. And at the bottom of the emulator it said:
CWS/230/zos/
Now, can she be using a X-Windows server on the Windows 2000 workstation to connect to the Mainframe using that xioc3270tn emulator?
But I dont understand how or where the UNIX comes into play. First you have to use UNIX to bring up the xioc3270tn emulator and then connect to a Mainframe running CICS on z/OS using that xioc3270tn emulator?
I hope this is the right topic for this area. If not, please direct to a right frum area were peopke can better explain this to me please.
