I want to put our company's logo on some reports, but it's not looking too good. The logo was made in Illustrator so it's a vector image (should be great for scaling).

In order to include it on the reports, I converted it to a bitmap at 600 dpi (the resolution of our printer). Unfortunately, the report doesn't realize that the grpahic is 600 dpi and displays it as a really large image. If I convert the vector to a 72-dpi bitmap then it's the right size on the form, but looks horrible on our printer.

Is there a way of adding 600 dpi images to a report in VFP6?

Hi

Search the web for a software called 'Formati' and try to change the size using the software to the size you want. I have used that software to resize images with some good result.

Other could suggest other editing softwaer. :)

Hi Ramani.

It's not a problem with resizing images. I can do that all I want.

The original graphic is in Illustrator. I opened the .ai file in Photoshop as a 600 dpi images (looks nice) and saved it as a bmp. When I added it to my Foxpro report, it took up the whole page.

So then I opened the original .ai file as a 72 dpi image (looks bad). It is the correct size on the FoxPro report, but looks very blurry.

I guess maybe what I'm looking for is a way to diplay an ActiveX control on my report, such as the Adobe Illustrator one.

It sounds as though you may have selected 'Clip picture', ie size for size, as one of the properties of the Picture/ActiveX bound control of your report.

If so, change it to 'Scale picure, retain shape' and resize the object to suit the report.

There is no requirement to resize a raster graphic, ie bitmap, for a report, assuming you are downsizing in the report itself.

Upsizing raster images in a report will only be effective for relatively small increases over the original and will always be dependant on the makeup of the original image.

I use AI to create logos and images for my company. And what I do, is I click on "Save for Web". This way, it retains good resolution and graphic and converts it into a Gif file, a small one too.
