Hey guys,

I have a single HDD in my laptop, in my computer, I can see "C:\ my system disk" and "D - a 4 meg extended partition" can I somewhat "Hide" the "D" drive?

I would also like to change the CDrom drive from e:\ to d:\, should I just format and get on with it? or can I fix this somehow?

Thanks,

Luke.

Hi Luke,

Partition Magic can hide/unhide partitions without reformatting. However, I don't think (not absolutely sure) you can list the CDROM with a drive letter before the partitions of the HDD.

HTH, Dana:))

Two things:
First you have to change the drive letter for the extra partition off of D:. Then you can change the CD to D:. Then, in Tweakui you can uncheck the drive for the extra partition so it does not show.

How do I change the partition from d: to something else?

Thanks,

Luke

OK, I had to look this up from the old days. XP is so much easier in this respect. [tongue] You need to use the "substitute" command in the autexec.bat. Herer is an example:
subst f: d:
(This changes the drive to f:)
Then in Windows go into Tweakui and the "MY Computer" tab and uncheck the drive for F:.
By freeing up the D: drive you should be able to assign it in Device Manager to the CD Drive.

OR[bigsmile] you can use Partition Magic to delete that partition completely. It could then expand the primary to use all the space available. Or just leave it blank. This program, or others like it, are indispensable!
