Hello,

We have a win xp pro connect to our domain. We uninstalled the File and Print Sharing component but the computer still shows up in my network places. What could be the problem and how can we fix it? Thank you very much for your help!

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters]
"Hidden"=dword:00000001

Run the above in batch file.

Hi JR Aratea,

We tried to look for the key in the registry but we couldn't find it. We only found HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanWorkstation\Parameters.
When we tried to add "Hidden" and set its value to "1" we wasn't able to access the servers. So, we had to remove it. If you don't mind, would you please help us to understand it better? If we have to do a batch file, should it be like this:

REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters]
"Hidden"=dword:00000001

Thank you very much.

Hi JR Aratea,

Sorry about the "quick jump" it took some time for the setting to affect. Your way is good. Thanks again.

You're welcome. Glad to help.
