Is it possible to hide mapped drives from the users?

GPO only seems to hide local drives

TIA

Chris

If you want to hide a shared folder from users, add a $ to the end of the share name ie \\server\data$

Hi Mikie,

I'm actually wanting to hide the mapped drives from users i.e P: R: etc when they open Explorer.. not the actual shares.

Not sure if this is inherent in Windows though

You can hide certain drives from users/computers using a GPO, i am not in front of a server at the moment so cant tell you exactly which policy to change.

If you dont want them to see the mapped drives, dont map them in the first place? unless of course you have some software requiring access to them etc...

Mike,

Yup I tend to edit the system.adm file to extend the drives to all letters. Then turn them on or off depending on what is needed to be hidden. Look for Hidecalc it will tell you what valuse to set.
