How is it hanging today ...

My Friend has a Windos XP Home Edition Computer. I've check it and the problem is this. He said he left the computer on for a littel time (about 5- 6 days) then when he came back, the computer don't do anything. I's like it hibernate and don't get out of it.

If pressed the power button for 5 sec. until it shuts off and un pluged it from the powersource and pluged it back on and pressed the power button. You see the little light next to the power button flashing (yellow) and that's it, the screen flash 1 time and thats it.

It's a HP. I'm not really sure but i think the button light supposed to be green when it runs. yellow is standby ...

First i thought its the monitor but i've put on another one and the same problem.

I've tried "ctr alt del" , esc,
How can i fix that problem?

Remove all boards, and remove the RAM.
Clean the contacts and reinsert everything.

Watch carefully the fan on the power supply and the case fan.

When you repower the machine they both should be spinning (it is sometimes hard to see them). If either does not start, take the machine in for service.

hmm, the computer is just a few month old and he don't use it that much. if then just for office work.

U think it's a that big problem?>

Turn it on and look at both fans in the rear carefully. If on or both are not spinning, you can try the repair I gave above or take it in for service.

well,.. i've check everything .... the fans are working. all of them.... could it be that the computer had some problems with the hibernate? ... i don't know. i've heard a few times that some windows computer just don't get out of the hibernate ..

I can see an issue of not recovering from a C3 state to become active, but turning the machine off would clear any hibernation issue.

This is not a hibernation problem. It is a hardware problem with the motherboard, the processor, the power supply or some other hardware component.

Take it to the shop.

ok - thank u for ur help
