Hello
How i can change DNS name of domain
controler

Thank

Hi, to change the name of a DC you have to depromote the server, change the name and promote it back. I suggest you to wait or force a little replication (if you have more than one DC) between each steps.

Niavlys is correct. At a command prompt, type dcpromo. This is the same for promoting and demoting. How many servers are you talking about? Glen A. Johnson

I have only one W2k PDC
Then i will try to demote and promote?

You could, but in doing so you would lose all of your Active Directory information (user accounts, computer accounts etc.) If its a test environment or you only have a few users then you may not worry about it, otherwise it's a reasonobly big deal.

Hope this helps [smurf]

You might do a search for exporting your ad as a csv file, then import it once you've fixed the name. Try for an advanced search. I know I've exported my users as a csv and opened it in excel. It will give you the users, and what groups they belong to. Glen A. Johnson

Hi Glen, I've just tried the export, it works fine but it's a pain if you have a big AD structure with a bunch of OUs with other OUs in it, you have to export it one by one.

And how do you import it back?

Niavlys :)

To be honest, I don't have a clue. Somebody needed a list of users once and that's when I used the export function. I'm sure you can import it somehow though. Maybe do a search on Good luck. Glen A. Johnson
