Hi all.
Designed a client relationship DB, with which I'm super happy. Have beginners knowledge in Visual Basic, but no clue abt SQL, or so. Now i want to distribute the DB to my employees in a way, that:
* they cant change code/forms/reports...
* that they can only open the front end of the database (forms)
* that when one changes a record the others immediately can see/access/change it (server-style or so)
* that i can update the DB and send the users kind of an "auto-update-install" - file and they work with the new version after executing

Is this only possible with SQL or is there a way with code ?
Does anybody know about a special thread on this ?
Principal technique or way of doing this should be enough...will read myself through...just need the right direction.

What database are you using? Are you using MS SQL Server for the back-end? What is the front-end or user interface written in? Most of you questions relate to the front-end rather than the back-end. If you want to get the best answer for your question read faq183-874.

I'm using an MS Access 2000 DB and the front end has been built mainly with Access Tools. Some VB Code in some of the forms, thats it. I dont't use SQL Server, since i dont really know what it is and how to use. Now the DB is getting bigger and bigger and I already learnt that splitting the DB is pretty much a must. But have never done this before.
Any suggestions?
