How come my sound icon on the bottom right hand side diasppeared and it took my sound with it. Sometimes the computer will tell me that there isn't a sound card installed and other times it comes up that my MSCI(?) system is not installed properly. I had some problems with this computer when I bought it, and I fixed a majority of the problems and now the sound disappears. What's up with that? Signed davestacy2002

Dunno...few things to try though.

1. Remove all software to do with your sound card.
2. Download the latest drivers.
3. Reinstall it all.

Also, what OS are you using and while I'm on the subject, what sound card?

Regards

Well I'm computer illeterate, and I'm not for sure what sound card I'm using nor do I fully understand what it is your asking! I run windows 98 Plus, and just finally figured out how to reinstall my 32 bits of color which took me three weeks. hope that explains how illeterate that I am!

I suggest buying a good Windows 98 book.

Congratulations on trying to fix this yourself. Really.

However, if your going to do it, you need help. The advice here may be contradictory, and confusing, with your level of skill. Books help. *** USE THE WINDOWS HELP FILES*** they are quite helpful for easy things like that.

I'll get you started:
1) Go to control panel and MULTIMEDIA.
start there.
* bottom left corner * check there

2) In Cntrl-panel ..... check Devices. Look under sound.
Is it all there ? No yellow Exclamation marks ?

Check it out, and write back.
