I have a problem for sure. I have a trojan on my machine. It is trojan.vundo and I can't get rid of it. When I do a virus scan with Norton, it finds it. But can't remove it. There is a special link to Symantec that I found that has a file to get rid of it. But when I run it, it tells me that it can't find trojan.vundo.

Now I have XP Home. This thing did not come with the disk for it. I have read where the special file from Norton to get rid of this guy needs to be run in Safe Mode.

Now my problem gets worse. When I go into Safe Mode, I only have a black screen with the words "Safe Mode" in all 4 corners. And some other writing at the top.

Any and all suggestions are welcomed. Thanks very much.

Yes sir. In fact, I have been into Safe Mode before. But all at once, it started doing this to me.

Try and get a replacement CD for XP, you are going to need it sooner or later.

See if some of the other brands of removal tools work?

Either borrow a XP CD to load the Recovery Console or obtain the correct version of the Setup Files for creating a 6 floppy set.

HOW TO: Install and Use the Recovery Console for Windows XP (Q307654)

An easy to follow recovery console description when unable to start computer due to corrupt registry.

This is a layman's version of Q307545 in simple language.

I will be looking to do this later. Off to work. But thanks so very much for the response!!

By the way, can I borrow an XP Pro version or must I have XP Home?
Again, thanks.

To load just the Recovery Console it wont matter, you could even try a 2000 CD for that purpose.

looper... im having the same issue, have any luck yet?
