Hello,

I am getting an error in Event viewer that is pointing to msdcs.forestrootzone, and i realizing that i dont really have any idea what this means..

Does anyone know a site or has a link that can explain all the sub-folers and how they work. for example_kpassword under the forward look up _udp.. i wish to learn how this is used in DNS resolution.

THanks in advance!!

Welp, there are plenty of Q articles on this, but kpasswd is a kerberos password daemon and udp refers to the protocol it would use for transport.

Your _mscdcs namespace of the root domain must be available to all DC's in the _forest_ as their is forest wide information stored there. One of the more notable failures would be AD replication.
