Hi everyone,

Beginning a couple weeks ago, certain Citrix users have experienced issues with extreme slowness spikes and minute-long hangs. In fact, it appears that only four out of our 13 users experience continued problems with this. These four users either use a thin client, connect from a remote location using the ICA client, or are at the Citrix server console. All other users have experienced no problems. For example, I use a standard Windows XP desktop PC to access Citrix and have not experienced any trouble.

The only change I can think of that this would coincide with is our upgrade of GroupWise from version 5.5.5 to 6.5 approximately two weeks ago. Would this upgrade really be causing these problems for the select users that use thin client and connect from remote locations?

I've checked the performance monitor and memory usage, and both seem just fine. All of the users that experience problems are using the 4.83 (no service pack I think) client version which is installed on our Citrix server. Could the issue simply require upgrading to a newer client at the console? The strange thing is that all worked fine before we upgraded to GroupWise 6.5.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Right now I'm just not sure what it could be. Thanks!

- Matt.

Not convinced groupwise could cause the problem for them. As only four users are seeing this. I too have a server that has a habit of slowing at only one time during the day. I cannot find it either.

The NW Client version update would affect everyone, not just the four users. The only GroupWise item that might be worth checking is whether they are running in caching mode and perhaps how big their inbox/mailbox is.

Yes, it will affect everyone. We've had this same client version for a while now and our problems only recently started in the last couple weeks.

I'll check into the caching mode and perhaps take a look at their mailbox size too. Thanks for the suggestion. Right now a GroupWise issue or something related to a GroupWise upgrade is the only thing I can think of.
