I just had to reinstall windows 2000 on my domain controller thank god I onlyy lost my c drive partition. I reinstalled Active Directory and DNS. I can see the domain name from the workstation but can not access the DC computer or the shares. What am I doing wrong or what do i need to setup?

For the server I am using 192.168.111.2 255.255.255.0 default gateway 192.168.111.1 Preferred DNS 192.168.111.2

For the workstation 192.168.111.175 255.255.255.0 192.168.111.1 Preferred DNS 192.168.111.2

I assume the workstation was joined to teh domain before your dc crashed?

Did you have a backup of your dc, and do a restore? Or did you just reinstall the dc and use the same domain name?

If you didn’t do an authoritative restore on your DC for AD you will need to rejoin the workstations to the domain. Then your workstations should be able to see the shares on your server. The reason for this is that even though the new domain has the same name, it doesn’t contain your workstation accounts. Good Luck!!
