Help....win2k seems to pause when accessing certain things

I have a machine running a pc chips 810lr board with a duron 1ghz with 256 mb ram, running win2k.

The win2k is an upgrade from win98se. (Also has novell but im not loggin in thru that as its not currently on network, but has been and will be).

My problem is this....When clicking on say control panel, mycomputer or say right clicking on desktop to get desktop properties, the computer seems to hang for about 1 minute then carry on.

You're in the wrong forum - this is NT.

Upgrades from 98 to 2k always likely to cause problems - has this delay been there ever since upgrade? If yes, I'd consider backing up, wiping drive & doing clean reinstall. If not, when did it start? Had you changed anything (hardware/software), had a crash/virus shortly before this?

Any other issues with the machine?
