I have an old application that some of my accounting users have to work with that cannot print to Windows print drivers, so it has to have the windows printers mapped or captured to LPT ports. So basically, what I wind up with is a pc with LPT2 - LPT9 mapped to a given network printer. I've never had a problem with this until today...now one of the PC's (XP PRO) just started returning a system error when it tries to map the printer to a local port. The command structure used here is net use lpt2: \\servername\sharedprintername. When I type this command, it returns System Error 66: The network resource type is not correct. I am at this point clueless..I am not having a problem from any other pc, nor am I having any other problems with this pc. It can map drives just fine through the net use command, just not printers, and it can still install and use shared printers via windows gui, just cannot map them to lpt ports. Anyone seen this before or have any ideas? Thanks.
Matt.
