We've had a client come back to us asking to have her mailbox retrieved from an old exchange 2000 server that was decommissioned. The problem is this server had AD & exhange 2000 on the same mailbox but AD was removed.
There are no backup tapes of this server and all we have is the priv1.edb and .stm files plus log files etc. in the mdbdata folder of the server.
I've tried building a new server with exhange and created the same environment as before (services packs also), and copied over the priv.edb *.stm files onto the new server and tried to mount the database, but I always get a error message in Exch System Manager saying 'an internal error has occured... please try restarting the IS service'
Any ideas or other avenues I can try to retrieve one mailbox from a edb file?

btw I wish I could get a copy of Ontrack Powercontrols but the price tag is a bit too steep as that would solve my problem.
