Recently migrated to Windows 2003 Exchange Server (new server) from an existing 2000 Exchange. Everything was fine for a few weeks. Yesterday I followed the Microsoft instructions for removing the first server in the site, as we want to retire that server and use it for something else. Made sure there were no more connections to the old server. Since that time yesterday, some e-mails are not being sent. These are always to external addresses, yet other external addresses seem to work fine. If I send a broadcast to all internal users and 10 external users, some of those external user messages will just sit in the SMTP queue and eventually send delay messages and then undeliverable. It is not the same domains. It appears random.

Can anyone help!!??

Found the problem. Somehow, after I removed the old exchange server, the setting in Server manager got changed to point to a 3rd exchange server (forgot to mention it's existence in my post). That server had SMTP disabled, because it does not normally send. Changed the settings back to the primary server and all is well.

Dear Albracco,

Would you please tell me how can you fix this problem?
I have th esame problem like you. After move mailbox to new exch2003 but the SMTP server still connect to exch2000. How can I confrim that we are using SMTP in exh2003, not exch2000.
Please advise!
