Ever since i formated, and added windows xp pro, when I load up my computer it still asks for me to choose whether I want to load up pro or home version, how do I remove this?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Shir0,

Right click My Computer, hit properties, Advanced Tab, startup and recovery settings.

Click the "edit" button and copy and paste the contents of that text file here....

Thanks.

Thanks for your help.

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn

just get rid of that last line. That should take care of it...

Shir0 - is the drive still partitioned in 2 (that boot.ini file says XP home was on the second partition of the drive - which is a bit odd, as it sound like you had just XP Home then added XP Pro - which I would have expected to have put the o/s the other way round, if not overwriting)?

No I completely formatted the drive, then just created a second partition using partition magic after a fresh install of pro, why it is associating home with that partition I am clueless.

Shir0 - did you try removing that last line of the boot.ini?

Yes, and it worked thank you very much for your help.
