HELP! OE5 Doesnt work!

can anyone help?

on my windows 98 machine, when you double click the shortcut/click system tray icon/program file for outlook express, nothing happens.

If you try any route to open OE, the cursor changes to egg timer for a few seconds then...nothing.

I tried re-installing outlook express - didnt fix it, so i tried uninstalling and reinstalling the whiole of IE5 and components...still have the smae problem, my IE works fine though.

I looked in the registry but nothing stood out, but im not entrirely sure what im looking for.

Could it possibly be a registry permissions problem?

Theres no regedt32 in Win 98 so i cannot set permissions can i?

my machine is a stand alone so im not even sure whether registry permissions is the cause.

Sounds like a missing dll file but really could be a number of things. May try going to sysinternals.com and downloading their filemon and regmon programs to see if you can get more insight into what is happening when you click on the EXE. Filemon monitors the file activity and regmon the registry activity and they are both free. joegz
