help needed with program for monitoring other programs

how can i make a program that will start a program if it unexpectedly closes? I guess a better description would be how can my program know if another program is running or not?

i am a novice programmer, and I need a REALLY simple command. Something i can just run a

If program.running=false, then shell(program)

kind of thing.

There is no REALLY simple command. If there was do you think the thread with that example would be used? Good programmers don't use complex code to make themselves feel more important they use it because that is the way it has to be done

try this for actual code. Sorry isn't a simple solution, complain to Mr Gates.
