I am newbie to UltraDev, Servers and Database connections.

I have built a catalog in html but it is very cumbersome. I want to update it to a Access database connection but I am have some questions. I have read through all the other question and replies to do with this topic but I still have some questions. I have checked through my ISP webpages regarding database connections and they show nothing, they just say that with my package I have MySQL. I want to make sure I know what info I need from them. As I understand the process I first have to
1. ask ISP whether they are DSN or DSN-less?
2. ask them where to upload my database
3. If they have DSN then they have to 'mount' my database (what does this mean)?
4. I have to set up a DSN on their Server (I have set up a local DSN on my system and connected to it through UD4 successfully) but how do I create one on their server?

Please pardon my ignorance, and I thank you for your time in advance.

1 Correct
2 Correct
3 You upload your database to the location they specify then they put it where it will be accessed
4 You dont they do (as you saw setting up the DSN locally you need admin access to the server itself & there aint many ISP's who will give you that!!).

You say that your package comes with MySQL.
That sounds like the database is already there and ready to go. They should have given you a database name, user name, and password.

Regarding DNS, I don't know if this info will help you but...
I'm using DWU 4 combined with php, apache, MySQL as well as phakt(DW's php server model). The DNS is set up on my PC.

With this set up 2 new folders are created 'Connections' and 'adodb'. These folders are to be uploaded. The files inside 'Connections' need to be edited with your mySQL info (name, user, password).
Once it's uploaded it should automatically connect.

Dunno, but I hope this helps.
