Hey guys, I am having this problem on boot up, its a brand new computer, everything for it is brand new. Here are my specs
430 watt PS
Abit KD7a MB
AMD 2200
ddr2200 512 mushkin
120gb maxtor
Geforce4

Ok everything gets power, all my fans are spinning, my case and mobo leds ar working, My cdroms, and Floppy are working, I get no video, and series of long long beeps. I thought for awhile that I new sometimes when you get longer beeps like that it could possibly by a PS problem, so I went and bought a new one to see. Still the same, I used a Different HD to see, Cleared CMOS everytime I did this. But still no video and long long beeps, I have taken everything apart twice and seated my cards in different slots, as well.
My MB is grounded my the Brass grounds all in the right spots, all my case fans, and CPU fans are working properly, CPU is not overheating or getting to hot.

Everything Is brand New, I have many other parts I can test on it so I am open to anything. Oh I tried different Vid Card still the same.

Help Me please. Thanks guys

Howdy,

Don't know how myself but someone suggested to me that this could be cause by RAM trouble. Maybe try reseating that and, if that doesn't help, try different RAM (if poss) see if that fixes it.

Hope this helps

Can you try the memory and vid board on another system? How long are the "long" beeps? 1/2 second - one second - 5 seconds?

Hey i got it fixed a faulty stick of 512, work fine now thanks alot for the help

This may be of some help

DOS ERROR TONES ON BOOTING
1 LONG, 1 SHORT = Defective video card due to vga access failure
1 LONG, 2 SHORT = Monitor test failed, connector is no securely attached or is not compatible.
1 LONG, 3 SHORT = VGA display memory problem
1 LONG, 4 SHORT = VGA Vertical retrace problem
1 LONG, 5 SHORT = Problem with another adaptor on the system. Check that there is no memory conflict.

Have you checked the pins in your HD15 video plug ? If you find one bent try straightening it and pulling it up straight with a very small flat needle nose pliers ....and GO SLOWLY so as not to break the pin 'cause if you do you'll have to get a new monitor! If this is the problem get yourself an extension HD15 M>F so as not to have to use that plug any more, than once more. Once the pin has been bent it is a real ba_t_rd to have to use!
Good Luck
Bob
