Can anyone give me some guidelines in learning this language? I have been doing this for a few months now and seem to get myself stuck in alot of situations.

Is it best to master(or become good at) whatever area that I am learning and then move on? What would you suggest? I want to know everything, if possible, about vb6.

Any help at the best ways to learn this would be great.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Hear are three fairly simple steps.

1. Get a good VB book and go through it thoroughly. Don't move on until you understand what you are on and do all the examples. You can find book reviews at Make sure the book reads at your level.

2. Do some of the free tutorials found on the internet. See my post in thread222-628778 for a small list. Search for more.

3. Go to a code bank, such as or (there are others) and download sample projects and work with them until you understand what is going on.

When you can't find an answer come to tek-tips.

4. Decide on a project of your own and jump in head first. Every time you get stuck Google your question, search MSDN, or post a question here.

Two strings walk into a bar. The first string says to the bartender: 'Bartender, I'll have a beer. u.5n$x5t?*&4ru!2[sACC~ErJ'. The second string says: 'Pardon my friend, he isn't NULL terminated'.
