Hi, one of my friends thought i would be a wise idea to move my large subwoofer next to my monitor so i could appreciate the sound more. However, when doing so, he accidentally knocked the monitor slightly, (not hard, just a small tap). When we both looked at the monitor, the size of the desktop was all wrong. I used the setting on the monitor to try and adjust the size of the screen (horizontal and vertical scrolling buttons) However, the horizontal one does not work at all and i'm missing a third of my screen. The strange thing is, when i restarted the computers, all the information at the begining (DOS stuff and the windows loading thing) was also the wrong size and positioned stupidly. I'm wondering if their is any cure or am i going to buy a new one... Any help would be much appreciated!! RYAN

Have you moved the sub away again? If not, it will be the magnet interfering still.

Then use the degauss button if you have one to get rid of residual, or turn the monitor on and off several times to use the built in routine. Ed Fair

If you don't have the degauss feature on the monitor, your local TV repairman will have a coil device that will do it. The tiniest magnet placed against the monitor screen can make color changes, some are a nice purple hue.

I also found to my dispair that when left next to an open window during a storm, drinking 10 pints of water, and being turned on, a Bright white line and nasty noise can be made.

Still working mind you ;)

Yes, i moved the subwoofer instantly so i'm sure it's not that. I've messed around with my monitor for hours, trying to change the position, using the deguage funtion and all the other features that are on the monitor. Is their anything else that could be making my monitor to function like this?? It's only 5 months old so who knows what is wrong with it..

there is a possibility that the deflection coils got jarred and shifted out of place.
Time for a TV technician to look at it. Ed Fair

5 months, call for a brand new replacement - most of them have 3 years onsite next day swapout. They will ask you what the problem is - just tell them the picture doesnt fill the screen and its all distorted. Ive sent back loads of monitors - and it seems that they dont really care if the fault is as described. Worth a try
