hi folks, i urgently need help. i had this problem on my switch and refuse to POST. (which i did use it for a couple of months) the only light i can see upon power on, the port 1 and 3 lights on, thats all. i cant console. i remember there was once i came across that using cable can manually reset the switch to default factory setting, can anyone enlighten? or anyone can advice what is the problem im facing? is there a way to rectify?

many many thanks in advance.

We had a problem w/ a 3548 that ran for a while then would stop responding completely (no console or packets). It was right after our A/C went out in our data center. :( We had to replace it w/ Cisco.

If you can get to the console when the switch first boots, your can issue a "write erase" or "erase startup-config", and then issue a "reload". That will set the switch to default config, but you need your switch to at least post to do this.
