Hello

I purchased a Seagate 300 gb internal hard drive. I also purchased a hard drive enclosure. I also own a PC. In the enclosure brochure it says it can take upto 400 gb. I installed the internal drive in the enclosure and when I plugged in the usb, it starts making a tic-tic sound then there is green and red light on the enclosure but the hard drive is not recognizing. When I tried with my 40 gb internal hard drive in the same enclosure it is working and there is no tic-tic sound. What seems to be the problem? Someone please help me to solve this problem. Thanks!

It sounds like the hard drive is faulty, can you take it back where you brought it from?

If you want to test the drive first you can download the diagnostic software from seagates website. You will need to put the HD inside your pc on one of the IDE channels. The software will be able to diagnose any problems and give you a error code that you will need if claiming a replacement under warranty

Thank you for your immediate response. I just tried another 300gb (Seagate) internal harddrive in it. It is behaving the same. May be the enclosure is not taking 300gb? But in the enclosure box it says it supports upto 400gb.

I think I have to take to the store and fix it.

Thank you very much.
