Hi,

I am trying to setup Exchange email account on one of the client computers. Computer is running windows xp sp2 and it has Outlook 2000 installed on it as email client. I looked everywhere on that computer but I could not find a way to set up exchange account. when I clink on Tool menu in Outlook, all is see is

Account...
Customize...
Option.....

I can't find 'services...' under tool menu. I looked under 'Mail' in control panel also but I can not find it.

What changes I need to do to configure exchange mail account on this computer?

Any help is appreciated.

RS

Switch to classic view when you go into contol panel. In 'Mail' you may have to create a profile first before you can create the exchange account.

Under Classic mode when I click on Mail, I don't see any place to create profile. When I open 'Mail' (by double clicking on 'Mail' icon) it opens dialogue box for internet account.

What happens if you right click on the outlook icon? You should get the standard list of open, create short cut etc.. And properties at the bottom, there you should be able to manage the service.

It sounds like someone attempted to set up their own account with out knowing the proper procedures, this used to have that happen to me all the time. Your last resort option is to reinstall outlook.

If I right click and go to properties I get same dialogue box saying 'Internet Account'. I can set up 'pop' account from here but no place for setting up Exchange Services.

It looks like some one has tried to set up internet email account and did not finish it. I guess, I will have to unistall and re-install outlook.

thanks for you suggestions.

Ok go to -- I'm thinking, I have Outlook 2000..

It's in options - find the button that says "Reconfigure Mail Support" click it, and see if Internet Only or Corporate/Workgroup is selected.

If it's Internet Only, get out the Office CD and re-configure it for Corporate/Workgroup.

I meant Outlook 2003 - I can't find the Option in Outlook 2003 - but I know it's in 2000

Ok It worked, Under tool > mail services > re-configure mail support and I changed it from internet to corporate.

Outlook shut down and when I open it I had Service..under tool menu.

Thanks you all for you help. I had this happening on 3 diffrent computers.
