Help - File locking problems and stuff - xls docs

Our server has gone quite mad and is about to be restarted in a bid to cure itself. However I would love to know why it's gone so mental.

Basically in open resources in server manager it has atributed my login to having every spreadsheet on the server open when I haven't and never had ! Also other people who have spreadsheets open are not being able to open them once they've closed them as they get the 'this spreadsheet is in use by "theirlogin ID" click read only, notify or close etc.

Any advice at to what has gone wrong much apreciated.

One thing you can do is go to User Sessions within Server Manager since it will not only show you the logon, but the computer the folder is in use on. The drawback is that it will only show you the folder that is being accessed and not the individual file. That might give you some clues. You shouldn't have to re-boot the server for this, unless you want to. If you've determined that no truly has it open, you can close the resource from Server Manager. That may be the least disruptive way to go.
