When I go to Insert - Worksheet, I get three worksheets instead of one. And they are always titled Sheet1, Sheet2, Sheet3. I used to be able to insert one sheet at a time and it would number the sheets based on how many I had inserted. Can anyone help fix this?

Tools / Options / General ... set "Sheets in new workbook" to 1 (or whatever you need).

Thanks. I've done that, too. When I open a new workbook it does give me just one sheet. But when I insert a sheet it gives me three.

I can make it do that if I select three tabs before performing the insert, but if only one tab is selected then only one sheet is inserted.

What version of Excel are you using? Maybe this is an XP thing? (A lot of strange things seem to come with XP.) I'm using Excel 97 here.

I'm using Excel 2002 on Windows 2000 Professional.

When I select multiple worksheets, it still inserts 3 worksheets. I just tried it with 2, 3, and 6 sheets selected and it was always the same.

Sorry, I can't help you. I don't have that version. Look around. There's probably some options setting that you just haven't found yet.

Thanks anyway. I keep thinking there is a setting I'm missing, too. I just can't seem to find it no matter how long I look. Thanks for trying. :)

Make sure your "cap lock" is not on...try that...I do know you are supposed to be able insert more than one sheet by holding down the "shift" key and selecting the number of sheets you want...

I tried with my Caps Lock on and off and holding shift and not holding it and other combinations, so I don't guess that's it.
Dreamboat - I tried the detect and repair and I cancelled it because it was taking so long. When I cancelled, though, it erased my Outlook ID. Do you know if this is because I cancelled it or will it do this if I run it all the way through?
Thanks and I'll check out the above website.

At this point i would probably do the following:-

Shut Down Excel and then do Start / Run and type in excel.exe /regserver which will reset all the defaults for Excel in Windows' registry.

Dreamboat - Yes, sorry, my exchange server log in is what I was talking about.

Ken - I ran it and I got the following errors:
"One of your object libraries (/) is missing or damaged. Please run Setup to install it."
"Could not register the Office library. Please run Setup."

Do you know what this means? Will it make a difference? I clicked ok and it ran anyway, but it didn't fix the problem.

Rerun the installation and at the start it should give you a repair option, though I wouldn't expect this to do any mor ethan Anne's suggestion of running Detect & repair from the help menu. If the option comes up though, tell it discard any of your settings.
