Help: Autoplay setting trouble

When I put in a CD or flash drive, XP will pop up ask me what to do. I normally choose sth like "Open folder" and "Always". This will work most of time. However, some time later, seems to be after I change the drive letter, it no longer asks me or open the folder. The insertion of the disc becomes silent. No matter what I do with Properties->Autoplay, nothing changes.

The other things is some drive with autoplay, even though I don't want it. Right click on the drive shows Autoplay in bold, which means that is default action. I tried all kinds of things in Properties->Autoplay, it won't change.

Is there any way to change these behavior?
