I've recently upgraded from Access '97 to Access 2003 (i.e. Access XP) ... brave new world, stay ahead of the curve, etc.

In the '97 version of things, using HELP was fairly straight-forward ... type in a word or words and it gave you a list of several possible sections of the documentation where the word(s) appear.

In XP it doesn't seem to work that way. Type "FROM" for example under "Index" and there's no such thing. It hits "frame" and then stops. 'Tis my assumption that MS is not really trying to conceal the sordid truth about FROM so I'm guessing that my Access '97 mindset is causing me to make assumptions about how the new and improved HELP facilities in Access XP really work.

Does anyone have a link or comments that might HELP?

Golom,

The issue you are running into is there are now two helps. The one for MS Access is basically and overview of the product. The one that is useful for writing code is the VB help file that you can get to by bringing up a module and then doing an F1.

HTH,

Steve

Thanks Steve ... that's a start. The HELP I get with F1 from a module does indeed speak in more detail about programming related stuff. The specific issue that I was trying to figure out was Access XP support for sub-queries in the FROM clause. There seem to be some peculiar conventions involving delimiters (parenteses and/or square brackets) around such sub-queries and I was hoping that HELP could enlighten me.

That isn't covered in the programming HELP (understandably). I've found some on the answers on the Web but it's somewhat disappointing that so much potentially useful information has been omitted from what seems to be "Access Help for Dummies" (and we're determined that you should remain that way.)
