Hi

I have been told that adding the following to my registry will solve a mail delivery problem.

Has anyone come accross this?

You would need to navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Matrix\Mail Service" and
then modify or create a key called 'HELOIdent'.

thanks

Ian

mail? exchange, postfix, sendmail,pop...

you need to tell us what os, email client, server etc...

What kind of problem?

Sorry wasn't trying to be obtuse just not sure whatis causing the problem.

The server is running windows 2003 with "Matrix server" and hosts several domains under the dns name server ns1.alpha5-hosting.co.uk and ns2.alpha5-hosting.co.uk

the one domain thats giving me trouble uses outlook linked to exchange server to send emails and pop3 to receive.

The server runs IIS v6 and has all the updates installed by Fasthosts (the company I rent theserver from. Emails sent to one one three domains bounce back with the message host not resolved.

If I run a DNS test I see the following message

WARNING: One or more of your mailservers is claiming to be a host other than what it really is (the SMTP greeting should be a 3-digit code, followed by a space or a dash, then the host name). If your mailserver sends out E-mail using this domain in its EHLO or HELO, your E-mail might get blocked by anti-spam software. This is also a technical violation of RFC821 4.3 (and RFC2821 4.3.1). Note that the hostname given in the SMTP greeting should have an A record pointing back to the same server. Note that this one test may use a cached DNS record.

mail.paktec.co.uk claims to be invalid hostname 'Matrix':
220 Matrix SMTP Mail Server v(1.4) on <DSVR000575> Simple Mail Transfer Service Ready

Any help appreciated

Ian
