Hello, we have a windows 2000 server with a shared folder (A). There is a log folder (C) within another folder (B) that users need have write access. Shared folder A permissions are read only, folder B is not shared, and folder C (Log) is shared granting write access, but not full control. This log folder is needed to log a system crash. Unfortunately, when users log on to the server, a note appears warning each user except the administrator that the log file cannot be created. I think we have granted the proper permissions, but evidently we have not. Any suggestions?

Check under the security tab in the folder's properties to make sure the users have write permissions. The folder permission AND the share permissions need to allow write access for those users.

Yep,that was it. The permissions were really fighting each other. In other words, sharing and the security permissions were duplicated. We recreated the folder with with everyone sharing, then gave users the right on the security tab to write to the folder.
