I've had Helix Live CD by e-fense for some time but only recently have I had a chance to use it for real.
Helix is a Knoppix based Linux bootable CD. You download the ISO image and create the CD yourself similar to BART-CD. Once created, the CD has two main "flavors," a bootable version and an auto-run version on the CD.
The auto-run version allows you to run a GUI or command line tools from a "live" system. These tools include recovery, anti-virus/anti-spyware, forensics, etc.
The bootable version boots up Knoppix Linux and again allows you to run a Linux GUI, command line tools, etc. For more info, you can download Helix for Beginners.
As I mentioned I recently had an opportunity to use this for "real." I had an unbootable Windows 2000 hard drive in a machine. ERD Commander, BART, Boot Commander all failed to recover the hard drive. Using Helix, I was able to retrieve the data off the hard drive and put it on a new machine. This product worked when others didn't.
A couple of caveats are in order, though. This product uses several open-source products. As a result, some are a bit out of date by the time you burn the CD.
The other thing to be aware of is a knowledge of Linux/Unix is needed to use bootable part. The beginner's guide is very helpful and you might want to run through a "disposable" system while learning Helix.
A very good product, IMHO. You can also get a "Chain of Custody" pdf on the CD or download it from the above address.
