Headsets for IP Office

Hi all,

I'm trying to connect a Plantronics H251 headset to 1616\1416 phones. I am a bit confused after all the info I have read.

When I plug the H251 into the phone without the amplifier I get no sound from earpiece or mic. The headset button functions correctly.

Do I need an amplifier for the headset to work on these phones?
Whats the difference between the HIS and HIC adapter cables?

We use the plantronics cs540 all the time.
Add an APV cable and you can answer and hangup from the headset.
I do not know how it works on this headset as we only use the wireless sets.

The customer wants wired headsets, that's why were using the H251.
