Have 1 analog TN that gets a fast busy after dailing 4 #'s all the time. It has a dial tone and all too. All other analog TN's work fine. Anybody know of a way to check if there is problems with that TN, maybe something to enable it, etc. Any help would be great, thanks ahead.

JP, I'll try what you said. The analog phone gets a fast busy nomatter what, as long you are dailing 4 #'s it'll get fast busy. Digital doesn't ring also. TN has been rebuilt serveral times and used TN on diffrent extensions, jack still same fast busy after 4 numbers being dailed. Any other ideas will greatly be appreciated.

Sorry Arch I'm very new at this telecom stuff. The previous telecom person left without leaving any documentation for me or training. I'm just learning as I go, everytime I have to change something on an analog I have to out it then go back and re-create it to get to the CLS part. Do you know of a way to change CLS without outing then re-creating the TN again. I'm big time newbie but been catching on very fast. If you can explain in further detail what you meant by "CLS isn't FRE... is it?"

Also have a newbie question, how can I figure out what DN is associated to a TN. The my goal here is that I have a TN (14 1) that is open in the system but something is punched into it on the panel. I'm try to figure out what extension (DN) is tied to that TN. This phone stuff is fun getting a hang of it just rusty on some commands. I know the command to look up TN if I have the DN but don't know the command to look up DN if I have the TN. Help please.

Sorry....CLS = class of service. There are many different definitions within the class of service. The very first definition listed will be the basic service type...
FRE = Fully Resticted - Can only recieve calls, can not make them
SRE = Semi restricted - can only dial internally...There are more.

Go to LD 20, at REQ enter PRT,TYPE = TNB, CUST = 0 (probably), TN = Put the TN here and hit enter until it prints the phone out. Next to CLS will be all of your class of service definitions. If you see FRE, that would be a problem.

Best way to assign the proper definition is to print out one of the TN's of the working analog line and look at the first entry. FOr the sake of the instruction below, let's say it is CTD.

To modoify the analogue line, in LD 20 again...
REQ = CHG
Type = 500
Cust = 0 (probably)
TN = TN of the phone you want to change.
ECHG = Yes
ITEM = CLS CTD
- Hit the enter key at the ITEM prompt again and it should indicate it is finished, just as it would if you were building a new set.

Warning: You can get used to using th ECHG, but NEVER use it on an ACD phone.

Hope this helps.

To find out what DN is associated with that TN...use LD 20 again. at REQ enter PRT,TYPE = TNB, CUST = 0 (probably), TN = Put the TN here and hit enter until it prints the phone out. If it is an analog line the DN will be next to "DN". If it is a digital line it will be listed next to "Key". If the TN has no configuration, then the PBX will provide you an SCH code indicating so.

Thank you Arch, you have helped me plenty. I have another question about the CLS if you don't mind. We bought 2 analog Polycom Soudstation Premier. I guess we were missing 2 CLS's "C6A" and "XFA" to utilize the conference feature. I've been outing the line then re-creating it to change the CLS. So now all I've got to do is type in C6A and XFA after the ITEM = CLS that you stated previously. Will it just add on to the other CLS's or will it over write the others. Didn't want it to over write the other class of services. Want to just add the C6A and XFA to the rest of them. The step you said previous is that to add more CLS's? I'm so worried because I once knocked out all phones in our company accidentally. Lucky it was on a Friday night I had to go back and build it all because I didn't know what I did.

for a newbie, try something i always do, before you change anything, prt it and save it to a file. saves panic. to make cls changes just type the new cls mark after cls.

ld 1
chg
3904
echg YES
cls ao6

if you need other lines just type the in one at a time, you can change more the one cls or key on a pass.. another hint is to prt tnb return return, save that file as database with a date.. outing phones just got less scary. another learing process is to build a analog and digital set for your area. use them for testing, make changes..etc. by doing that you can test and learn without panic. takes about 3 minutes to build a phone without the copy command. i use the cpy command on any set except acd. i also disu any digital station before i make changes... MOST of the time in a nortel switch if you don't know the prompt, return return return... build a analog set and enter type 500 cust 0 des test tn x x (any vacant)dn 234 (any vacant).. any 12 returns...

find a vacant analog tn..ld 20 req luvu type 500 ...that's unused ports.. analog or digital...(type ='s 500 or 2000) for a unused dn (ext number) ld 20 prt ludn,, return the rest or enter the starting digit ... a single digit number in the response denotes 1000 vacant numbers, a 2 digit number denotes 100 numbers...ie

ld 20
prt
ludn

2

221 23 2444 2445 shows all numbers between 2210 and 2219, all numbers between 2300 and 2399, plus 2444 and 2445 on a 4 digit number plan... long post but looked like you needed a little bump start... had a tech make a mistake and remove a working card, acd phones no less, about 15 minutes before the group was going on nat tv, telethon... don't panic, just rebooted the switch without saving changes...i think Bill almost passed out

Under ITEM CLS XXX, if you put an additional class of service designation, as in XFA where the XXX is above it will only not overwrite other's. As Johnpoole stated above, once you have a good set that works the way you want, use the cpy command, just be ready to input the new DN.
