I'm looking to purchase a laptop for web design work on the run, and I'm trying to get an opinion or two from anyone who has used either a PC or a Mac with macromedia products, or even better, someone who has used both.

All the info I've been given so far has been biased by people who love the platform they use (understandable) but I need some kind of value for money for application power guide, and I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction here.

My alternatives at the moment seem to be a 15" G4 Powerbook, or a Toshiba M30 Centrino.

Sometimes, when my code just won't behave, I take it outside and make it listen to britney spears music, and when it comes back it's really well behaved. I wonder if it's suffering from post tramatic stress syndrome now..

Obviously you are going to get the biased opinions. But I wwould imagine they run pretty much the same on each platform don't they?

It is likely to come down to your personal preference...and the depth of your pocket if going for a Mac.

Apple products cost more for the same performance. They used to be much more stable but I think that advantage has narrowed somewhat with XP. I found Mac's easier to use but have not worked with OSX.

For DW I doubt there is much difference between the two. I would stick with what you are used to or if you cannot afford Mac go with a wintel machine.

There is much less hacker activity directed against Macs so they are safer in that respect.

I am a platform-unbiased user of DW. I use a pc at work and mac at home. Dreamweaver MX 2004 on both. Not much difference.

On a pc, you can use the free Homesite application, not on mac. I really like Homesite for coding, much better than DW for most tasks. Not available for mac.

thanks Harry, I've heard they behave differently, all sorts of nonsense by people trying to sell me the machines, good to hear the truth from a user who knows.
