I recently put a new hard drive in my computer. I have a TV tuner card installed and it was working fine. After the hard drive install, I cannot get it to work. It keeps saying it cannont initialize the video and that there is some other video program running. I also have lost my codecs for my DVD rom. To buy other codecs I would practically have to buy a new DVD rom. Any advice on a cheaper way to get the codecs would be appreciated. I haven't moved any of the files to the new hard drive. The old hard drive still has all the original files. The second hard drive is just a storage drive.

Only thing that really changes is the Order of the Drives. If you had a device driver that expected a device to be at D: and now the Device is at F: that might make a difference. Depends how smart the driver is. DVD's typically set the DMA to the Drive and make some settings in the Registry. Messing with the Drive order can drive Windows nuts. I think in XP you can change the drive order somehow. There may also be a registry Hack. Try asking this question in the Operating System Forum too.

I have seen similar problems with CD R drives.

If you do not like my post feel free to point out your opinion or my errors.

Thanks, the drives never changed order. I only added the one drive.
