Anyone have a diagram of a Hardware Loopback Plug? I am not sure that I am doing it correctly as per Cisco's description.

"Note: The pins on an RJ-45 cable plug are numbered from 1 through 8. With the metal pins of the plug facing toward you, pin 1 is the leftmost pin.

Complete the following steps to create a loopback plug for a T1 CSU/DSU:

Use wire cutters to cut a working RJ-45 cable that is 5 inches long with a connector attached.

Strip the wires.

Twist the wires from pins 1 and 4 together.

Twist the wires from pins 2 and 5 together.

Leave the rest of the wires alone."

Holding the RJ45 with the copper pins on top and facing away from you:
___

| | | |

| | | | | | | |
| | | | | | | |
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8

Using the document you referenced, and assuming you start with a CAT5 cable that is industry standard TIA 568B wired, then twist the orange/white and blue together, and the Orange and blue/white together.

To see if it's a TIA568B cable, the wire order looking at the RJ45 pins should be, left to right with the pins on top and away from you (cable toward you), Orange/White, Orange, Green/White, Blue, Blue/White, Green, Brown/White, Brown.
