hello,

I have a pc running win xp, 1.1g processor 256 ram. The computer worked fine then it just began to run so slow. Example. to open reader 6 will take over a minute.
I have wiped the harddrive and reinstalled the operating system. I have install no programs except reader which I downloaded from Adobe's website. Launching explorer and surfing the web runs fine. Only once you run a program which has to launch does the computer slow down. Explorer launches fine without being slow.
Any Ideas?
Thanks

Couple of tips to start:
Giving it more ram would help ..
My laptop right now as im writing this is using 152M.
And thats just XP and one ie6 window .
Running defrag occationally is always helpful , your application files may be spread all over the disk in small chunks , this making it take a long time to read and load into memory .

Another tip that will speed up xp for you!

-Right click on my computer
-Choose properties
-Click the advanced tab
-Click on settings key in the perfomance area
-Unselect all options ,but leave the last one in the bottom checked(use visual styles on windows and buttons).
