Hardware Conflict

I got a compaq Presario 1200 laptop running Windows 98 and Ive gotten errors for the VIA Sound System and PCI Communications device.

"The error with the VIA Sound System says that there is a hardware conflict, apparently the input/output range is being used by the motherboard, I tried changing it manually but it gave me the error "The Resource Setting Cannot be Modified".

Also where can I download the drivers for the PCI Communications device? I tried using the compaq ones but they didnt work, also a little info on what the PCI Communications device is would be a great help.

usually its a modem. do u have a modem installed in device
manager?

what brought about this conflict?

find belarc advisor on the web and follow instructions and
it will tell you what you have and therefor youll know what drivers to seek.
