Hard Drive optimisation

System:

P4 3.2 HT, 1 GB RAM, 2 x 300 gb SATA HD's, 2 x DVDRW, Creative Live! 5.1 Soundcard, Radeon 9600XT, Logitech QuickCam, Logitech Cordless KB/Mouse, 2 MB LAN Cable Modem.
Windows XP Pro SP2 (updated fully), Sygate Personal Firewall Pro, AVG 7.0 AntiVirus (updated), Peerguardian 2. Various Spyware removers.

I have two Maxtor 300 GB SATA drives which have 16mb buffers, is there a way to optimise XP to take full advantage of this buffer to speed up data transfer?

If it annoys Microsoft then it's worth doing, and doing well!!

Are you having any specific problems, otherwise you could run some benchmarking programs and see what they say or advise?
